Humphreys chef Paul Murphy competes on Cutthroat Kitchen

One of San Diego’s own will appear on The Food Network this weekend.

Paul Murphy is a well-known San Diego chef, renowned for serving up his specialities to the likes of Diana Ross, Tony Bennett and Seal, among many others before and after their performances at the Humphreys Summer Concerts. Murphy has run the show in the kitchen at the triumvirate of Humphreys Restaurant, Humphreys Half Moon Inn and Humphreys Backstage Live since 2001. But nothing he has done in those 13 years may surpass the celebrity he attains as a contestant on the next episode of Cutthroat Kitchen. Paul’s appearance will air on The Food Network this coming Sunday, August 3, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The show has the title, “Two Chefs, One Toga”.

Host Alton Brown will again be his entertainingly-taunting self, as he tortures four competing chefs in front of celebrity food judges. The contest moves fast and puts the pressure on the participants, as one bad presentation can eliminate the chef. Adding to the ordeal is the technique of providing each contestant with $25,ooo and allowing them to keep as much as they can. However, they are required to use the cash in an auction to avoid being saddled with a severe impediment to their cooking by the opponent who buys  one of three sabotage items.
