HBO Announces Four Game of Thrones Spin-Offs

By  |

For die hard fans who live and breathe HBO’s pay-network, Game of Thrones, have no fear because your time vicariously living through the mythical characters in Westeros is nowhere near over. Award winning producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss are finishing up the seventh season and are already in the process of writing the eighth season. Even though the producers are finished after the the eighth season is complete, GOT is not. Four spin-offs are coming.

The fantasy world authored by George RR. Martin is expected to imaginatively expand in four different spin-offs, prequels or sequels. As the first follow up series ever to hit HBO, these four shows are on an epic mission to replace GOT. Luckily, the writers hand-picked for these shows just might have what it takes to honor GOT’s legacy because of their professional background in movies.

Fortunately, George RR. Martin is going to be involved in two of the projects and each writer has credible experience writing major dramatic/action films. Martin is expected to collaborate with Brian Helgeland (A Knight’s Tale) and Carly Wray (Mad Men). Other creators of these upcoming shows include Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island) and Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service).

Unfortunately, no specific information about the shows was released, not even a timetable. In fact, the writers wish to spend as much time as it takes to honor Martin’s magical world of Westeros. HBO did announce that the shows “explore different time periods of George RR. Martin’s vast and rich universe.” Even though the broad statement makes us presume a limitless sum of possibilities, we expect a promising future.

Stay tuned for more information on the new shows. Until then, make sure to watch the premiere of season 7 of ‘Game of Thrones’  on July 16 and prepare for another memorable season.
