David Letterman is Returning to Television on Netflix
We are happy to announce that David Letterman’s career has not yet closed, even though we thought it did after he discontinued ‘The Late Show With David Letterman.’ Instead, he opened another door on television with Netflix! Letterman signed for a regular gig via Netflix that is expected to combine long-form interviews with reports from the field.
Netflix officially announced the news on Tuesday that David Letterman would be the star of the new series. Each episode is planned to be an hour long and there will be six of them all together. As of now, the show is untitled, but it is going to be produced by New York-based RadicalMedia and Letterman’s Worldwide Pants banner.
In Netflix’s official announcement about the show, creators of Netflix said that the show would demonstrate, “in-depth conversations with extraordinary people and in-the-field segments expressing his curiosity and humor.”
Also, Letterman had something to say about coming back to television after signing off from CBS two years ago. Inevitably, his comment was hilarious.
“I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix. Here’s what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first.” He said. “Thanks for watching, drive safely.”
Though Letterman oftentimes received criticism for being “too mean” his interviews to women, they usually led to being some of the most memorable and unique interviews in history. Also, he is the longest-serving host in U.S. late-night TV history. How could you not watch his new upcoming series?
Though there isn’t a set premiere date of the new Netflix series just yet, we know that it will show at some point this Fall. SD Entertainer will let you know if there are any updates about Letterman’s new Netflix series as soon as we know.
