Tuition-free colleges
Four years of college, no tuition
Sounds too good to be true? It’s not a scam or a typing error. It’s not a mistake or fake. The fact is the list below is of twelve four-year, accredited schools of higher education that can be attended with free tuition. In our current economic hard times, the cost of a college education has become prohibitive for so many students. Those who would like to not have large student loans to repay, these programs may be just the educated answer.
While these schools charge no tuition, other normal college expenses do need to be paid. Room and board, books, supplies and equipment as well as transportation costs, health insurance, and other personal expenses are just some of the costs.
In addition, students may be expected to work as compensation for tuition. Many of the schools are located in rural areas of the southern and eastern United States.

Armed Forces colleges
The Armed Forces academies, such as the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York; do not charge any tuition, although some term of service in the corresponding branch of the Armed Forces is required.
There are alternatives out there. Parents and high school students wondering just how college can be afforded may want to investigate these schools offering tuition-free attendance. This might be a smart way to further their education, without leaving a school-loan debt hanging over their heads.
