Two Cents on the Current World of the NFL
So the NFL Ratings are down. Anyone who’s watched recently can’t help but notice that the games are increasingly boring and the matchups are only partly to blame. Plus, we now have far too many theatrics being displayed. After virtually every play, even a basic run or tackle, someone puts on a display for the cameras. I mean these guys have even preplanned which camera to look toward. What ever happened to turning to your teammates and celebrating with them. Gee, I think the Patriots do that. Hmmm…
Speaking of ratings, the only reason the World Series beat football on Sunday night is the Cubbies…
Speaking of the Patriots, the fact that Bill Belichick traded linebacker Jamie Collins away to the Browns for a conditional third round pick, because, as my sources tell me, he was ‘freelancing’ too much is amazing. The guy has the biggest stones in the NFL… Compare that to Ram’s coach, Jeff Fisher on Hard Knocks cajoling a cornerback who refused to practice because he wasn’t starting. Good luck with that, coach…
Speaking of head coaches; it will be interesting to see how Vikings’ head coach Mike Zimmer now addresses the fact that his football team is in a freefall. His tough words about them, “being soft…” sure didn’t work against the Bears on Halloween…
Speaking of the NFL, I think it is so interesting that soon before the league ‘goes private’ from being a public company which has to disclose all its financials, the NFL’s revenue is less than half what it was in the prior year. Creative accounting?

Yeah, Joey Bosa is the real deal, OK? All the more reason why the Chargers should have checked their egos at the door and not wasted several weeks, then ending up giving him virtually the deal he wanted anyway; which could be called ‘Spanosing-up’ the negotiation. Imagine him in the lineup for those first games…
Speaking of the Spanos family; the tote board for the Charger’s attaining the necessary votes to allow the new stadium to proceed is (-10).
The writer’s fearless prediction is that even if they lose the vote, which is likely, they will not move to L.A. The NFL wants football in San Diego (C-mon, what better Super Bowl city is there?), and have made very painful move for the team to venture north. Plus, if I’m worth several hundred million dollars, I’m not leaving San Diego for Los Angeles. Period.

Imagine you’re the parents of a high school football star and Jim Harbaugh shows up in your living room to speak with you about your son’s future at the U of M. Sold…
Speaking of the BCS (weren’t we?), there are only five undefeated teams at the moment. One of them is Western Michigan University. I bet you didn’t know that…
