Secret Wedding Bells for Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively
Wedding bells were in the air last weekend for newlyweds Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. After dating publicly for almost a year, the couple decided to tie the knot.
On Sunday the star couple got married during a private and secret ceremony at Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. The plantation is the same location used for “The Notebook” film, where the characters Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) met and fell in love.
The young couple first met at the set of the “Green Lantern” film last year. Sparks flew both on and off set as the co-stars quickly went from being costars to being in a relationship.
In the last few months, Ryan, 35, and Blake, 25, started to get serious by purchasing a house located in Bedford, New York. The young happy couple was then seen strolling through the city and going to the gym together.
According to a US Weekly source, the couple decided to move because, “They love getting out of the city and appreciate a slower pace [of life].”
The “Green Lantern” costars have kept their relationship so private during the past year that no one had any hints that the couple was planning on getting married until the wedding day arrived.
The couple was then announced as Husband and Wife from the 95.1 FM radio station. A tweet from the station read, “Hold up, there’s another story that it’s Ryan Reynolds and he married Blake Lively at the Cotton Docks today!”
The local residents in the area had a feeling what the young couple was up to when Blake’s family was seen strolling around town, and the “Gossip Girl” star’s parents spent time with Bette Midler (“Hocus Pocus” and “First Wives Club”) and French Designer Louboutin.
The wedding reception included some of the stars’ close friends and family. For the main event, a wedding cake from Virginia was driven down.
“The reception took place in a white tent at the plantation on Sunday evening. Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine), a good friend of the Gossip Girl star, performed three songs live, and there was also a deejay who spun tunes.” (PEOPLE)
This marriage is Ryan Reynolds’s second, after previously marrying Scarlett Johansson in 2008 and divorcing just two years later in 2010. For Blake Lively, after dating Penn Badgley, her “Gossip Girl” costar, and Leonardo DiCaprio, this is her first marriage.
