New ‘That’s So Raven’ spin-off to air in 2017
It’s the future—I can see.
Yep, that’s me!
The psychic visionary could be back on TV screens as early as 2017 as it’s been nearly a decade since the That’s So Raven show concluded.
In an announcement on The View in October, the former TV star Raven Symone said she will be leaving the show to start a new spin-off from the That’s So Raven success which first released in 2003. It seems that Symone will be taking a more diluted role as her two kids are expected to head up the spectacle of the narrative.
The prior show entailed Symone’s protagonist role of a psychically gifted teenager who is able to see the future. In an effort to rectify her visions, she comically attempts to make her high school situations go in her favor only to fail at every turn.
While the casting for the new show has officially began, her daughter Nina will be put in the middle school setting of a student who is constantly dealing with a busy lifestyle while juggling her newfound psychic powers—presumably handed down by her mother.
Her brother, Booker, is a credulous child who is easily tricked into doing things that he’s not supposed to be doing with a ‘no regrets’ ethos.
This has become what many might consider an unorthodox move by an ex Disney star by electing to return to her roots. It will remain to been if this will be a popular trend moving forward for other Disney prodigies in their early careers.
The Disney channel released a statement showing their excitement for the new show’s prospects.
“Raven’s brilliant style of fearless comedy was a driving force for Disney Channel’s success around the world. Her performance in That’s So Raven is timeless,” said Disney Channel’s executive vice president Adam Bonnett when the news first broke.
