National High Five Day

By  |

Have you been high-fived out of the blue today? Or, is this new national celebration news to you? Either way, it’s the third Thursday in April today making it National High-Five Day!

NH5D started in 2002 on the campus of the University of Virginia. A group of students set up a booth on the quad and gave out high-fives and lemonade. Since it’s creation, people across the country have participated in NH5D from friends, co-workers, and even strangers. A high-five is such an easy thing to share with anyone!

If you want to take your high-fiving to the next level, you can participate in the High-5 Challenge–just like the ice bucket challenge a few years ago.  Make a video of your most creative high-five, then post it on social media, calling out five friends to do the same. Along with the video, make a five dollar donation to CoachArt, an organization that provides free arts and athletics to kids impacted by chronic illness. Along with your $5, Highfive Technologies will also donate $5!

Even if you’re unable to donate this time around, spread the word about National High-Five Day around the office or with your friends while you still can. And if you pass a stranger on the street, hold out your hand and see what happens.
