Michelle Obama joins Pinterest
Michelle Obama has officially joined Pinterest, leaving many wondering what she’ll pin about. Technically, the account states, “this account is run by the Obama 2012 campaign staff.” For pins from Mrs. Obama herself, users will have to look for pins signed “-mo.”
As of right now, there are three different boards: Around the White House, Great Memories, and Father’s Day.
With the agenda of Mrs. Obama being what it is, it is likely she will begin posting about fashion, recipes, workouts, gardening and more. We’ll be keeping an eye on the account to see what’s in store.
If you’re not familiar, Pinterest is an online social community where users pin their favorite photos, tips, information, and a host of other things. You can follow anyone’s pins and people can re-pin your pins. Currently the site boasts a predominately female demographic, but the speed with which it’s gained popularity has made it a marketing and PR powerhouse for brands.
It is clear that the 2012 Obama campaign has noticed the impact the site can have, and it will be no surprise when other politicians get on the band wagon.
In a matter of hours, the Michelle Obama pinterest account has accumulated over 7000 followers and is growing steadily. Visit http://pinterest.com/michelleobama/ to follow the page. Barack Obama’s page (http://pinterest.com/barackobama/) currently has over 20,000 followers and is also managed President Obama’s 2012 campaign.
San Diego resident for over 10 years, I now call this beautiful city home. Originally from the Bay Area, I'm a California girl at heart. I love the outdoors, fitness, food, and a good craft beer (from San Diego of course).
