Lindsay Lohan is going to jail for three months as decided by Judge

In a recent turn of events that it seems everybody but Lindsay Lohan herself anticipated, the 24 year-old actress will be heading to jail for a period of three months beginning July 20th. During a dramatic probation hearing in Beverly Hills this past Tuesday, Lohan tearfully defended herself against allegations that she had violated the terms of her probation— by failing to attend weekly alcohol education classes, missing a court date in May, and repeatedly lying about drug and alcohol possession, among other things. LiLo, as Lohan is popularly referred to, ended her spiel by saying that she had done the best she could and would strive to do better with the terms of her probation.

The Judge presiding over the case, however, wasn’t having any of it. Marsha N. Revel handed down three 30-day jail sentences to Lohan, a total of three months. In addition, she sentenced the actress to a 90 day period spent in drug and alcohol rehabilitation following her release from prison— a grand total of six months under lock and key for Lindsay, and a much more heavy handed conclusion than was widely anticipated.

Lohan reportedly burst into tears upon hearing the decision, turning to her defense attorney in horror. But Judge Revel had little pity for the young actress, stating, “It’s like someone who cheats but doesn’t think it’s cheating if they don’t get caught.”

While the jail time will undoubtedly stall the production of several upcoming projects Lohan is involved in, it seems that her career will be waiting for her when she returns. According to an interview obtained by the Associated Press, the director of Lohan’s upcoming film Inferno, Matthew Wilder, is “100 percent behind her” and was full of praise for the actress, declaring, “We are proud to have this remarkable artist work on our film.”

Many hope that the stint in jail will benefit Lohan and serve as a wake-up call, allowing her to get back to the old Mean Girls form. In the meantime, it looks like Lindsay Lohan will be flying under the radar for a few months.
