Entertainer Quickie: John Legend Engaged to Chrissy Teigen; Sinead O’Connor Ends Fourth Marriage

On December 27, John Legend, 32, announced his engagement to Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Chrissy Teigen. After four years of the dating the singer finally decided to pop out the question women dream of hearing. The couple started dating back in 2007.

Teigen is most recognized as one of “Sports Illustrated” swimsuit models and for two years has appeared on the show “Deal or No Deal.”

According to the NY Post, “Legend’s rep revealed to E! News today that the crooner had popped the question to Teigen, 26, while on vacation in the Maldives over the holidays.”

The “Ordinary People” singer’s week has been far from ordinary once Teigen accepted his proposal. Teigen and Legend were vacationing in Thailand with Teigen’s family for Christmas Eve.

On top of that, Legend will be having his birthday today. Happy Birthday John! The singer also has plans to perform. Where and when do you ask? According to USA Magazine, “Legend, a nine-time Grammy Award winner, will ring in 2012 with a performance at the Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms Casino Resort on New Year’s Eve.”

While there will be wedding bells ringing in the future for this star couple, other wedding bells have crashed and crumbled for another couple.

According to the Daily Mail, on December 8^th Sinead O’Connor had “walked down the aisle with Irish therapist Barry Herridge, who she met online, at the famous Little White Wedding Chapel in Nevada’s Sin City.” After 16 days with her new husband, O’Connor decided to end their short marriage.

The marriage only lasted for a little over two weeks. Only 7 of those days they lived together. According to BBC news, “O’Connor blamed the end of her fourth marriage after only 16 days on disapproval from Mr Herridge’s family and friends.” The couple got married in Las Vegas on December 8, 2011. The Irish singer has admitted that they rushed their marriage without thinking about any future repercussions it could have on them.

According to Reuters News the singer stated in her blog, “”Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over the marriage was kyboshed (ruined) by the behavior of certain people in my husband’s life. And also by a bit of a wild ride I took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night as I don’t drink.” She said her husband was traumatized from that experience as well as having to deal with the attitudes of those who were close to him towards their marriage.

This has not been the first time this Irish lass has been married. Her first marriage was with her producer and drummer, John Reynolds back in 1987. They split in 1991 after having one child together. In 2001, Nicholas Sommerlad, a journalist, married O’Connor and became her second husband.  O’Connor and Sommerlad then divorced in 2004. Her third marriage was with Steve Cooney in 2010. The couple broke up after 8 months of marriage on April 2011.

Barry Herridge was her fourth husband. The couple had gotten married on her 45^th birthday.
