‘Jackass’ Star Ryan Dunn Dead
On Sunday night, around 3 a.m., Ryan Dunn was in a fatal car crash in Pennsylvania on Route 322 and New Street. MTV News confirmed the accident this morning. Another car passenger in the crash died as well, but the passenger’s identity remains unknown.
Dunn, 34, was known for his crazy daredevil stunts in the “Jackass” (2000-2002) reality TV series as well as the “Jackass” films that were produced in the following years. His co-stars included Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera and others. According to MTV News, he was an important part of the crew both in “Jackass” and “Jackass” spin-off productions, such as “Viva La Bam” and “Bam’s Unholy Union.” In the spin-offs he would often be seen as the sidekick of his co-star, Bam, and play out as their crew’s “voice of reason”. He played an active role in the TV reality series “Viva La Bam” (2002-2006), where the focus was on his co-star Bam and Bam’s friends and family.
Margera’s mother, April Margera, was the one who broke the news of Dunn’s death through the “Preston and Steve” radio show on WMMR 93.3. According to Entertainment Weekly, the West Goshen Police Department stated that Dunn’s Porsche flew over a guard rail and crashed into a wooded area. The police found it engulfed in flames. They believe that the contributing factor of the accident may have been due to excessive speed.
Hours before his death he had posted a photo on his Twitter account showing him partying and drinking with his friends. 96.1 Kiss News stated that the bodies were burned so badly that the other passenger couldn’t be recognized. Dunn’s body was able to be identified through some of his recognizable chest tattoos and facial hair. The road couldn’t be re-opened until after five hours of clean-up.He is mourned by many of his fans, family, and his co-stars.
