Harry Potter Theme Park-Plans Finally Unveiled
Brace yourselves die-hard Harry Potter Fans, the plans for a Harry Potter attraction in Universal Studios have finally been unveiled.
This sure-to-be popular attraction is expected to premier in 2016 at the earliest. The L.A. version of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (in Universal Studios Orlando) will feature a recreation of the Hogwarts Castle as well as themed rides, restaurants and shops. Can you taste the butterbeer already? This famous frosty non-alcoholic drink from the Potter books is sure to be a favorite, in addition to many other magical treats.
The attraction will not disappoint the loyal fans of the Harry Potter series, assures Mark Liberman, president of the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau. “The millions of fans who have read the books and seen the movies are very demanding, and we’re very concerned about not disappointing them,” he commented. “It’s going to immediately be at the top of any attraction L.A. has ever seen.”
The magic of Harry Potter’s world is expected to boost the Los Angeles economy by generating over $417 in spending, affirms the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. This attraction is also expected to create more than 1,000 jobs with over 1 million additional visitors expected to attend.
The success of the Wizarding World in Universal Studios, Orlando is foretelling of the success that can be expected from a similar Los Angeles attraction. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando increased attendance in the theme park of over 68% within the first three months.
To make room for this attraction, the Gibson Amphitheater, which seats 6,100 guests and has featured artists such Eric Clapton, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan and Frank Sinatra will be repurposed to allow for the construction of the Harry Potter themed attraction.
