The Entertainer brings you today’s hot topics in a quick, no fuss format so you can get caught up and back to your day.
Bruno Mars
2010 has treated pop star Bruno Mars very well. Well 2011 is here and its not looking so good for Mars. Despite his top selling singles, Mars is dealing with a felony cocaine possession charge. The arrest was back in September, but is now approaching his trial. Recent reports have revealed Mars, whose real name is Peter Hernandez, has cut a deal with the prosecutors. Mars will be pleading guilty to the cocaine possession charge which will result in a year of informal probation, 200 hours of community service, a $2,000 fine and drug counseling.
Charlie Sheen
Sad to see it go, but Two and a Half Men is going on hiatus. It’s central character and star, Charlie Sheen, has started a program in rehab. “Due to Charlie Sheen’s decision to enter a rehabilitation center, CBS, Warner Bros. Television and executive producer Chuck Lorre are placing Two and a Half Men on production hiatus. We are profoundly concerned for his health and well-being, and support his decision.” On behalf of Sheen, his publisher Stan Rosenfield released a press release to USA Today, “”Charlie Sheen has voluntarily entered an undisclosed rehabilitation center today. He is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern.” Sheen was hospitalized Thursday, January 27th, morning after experiencing “severe abdominal pains.” The schedule of the new episodes of Two and a Half Men may be affected by the production hiatus.
Demi Lovato
Another television star is just finishing rehab, but she is only 18. Disney star Demi Lovato checked into treatment for “emotional and physical issues” late October after she fought with the Jonas Brothers World Tour dancer Alex Welch. The altercation was settled by Christmas. This last November, a family source revealed to People that “Demi knows she needs the help and knows that she is where she needs to be right now.” Lovato just finished treatment Friday, January 28th and is back home in LA. People reports Lovato will continue to see doctors in LA to work through her issues in treatment. A source says, “For now, she is getting back to her regular routine and spending time with her family and close friends. She is so grateful to all of her fans for their support, and looks forward to being able to talk to all of them very soon.” While Demi Lovato’s acting career plans remains unclear, her primary concern will be her health and well-being.
