Entertainer Quickie: Couric leaves CBS, Demi’s ‘Conversation’, Kate Hudson Engagement
The Entertainer Quickie brings you the hottest celebrity gossip and entertainment news. Today’s edition is all about the ladies; Katie Couric, Demi Moore, and Kate Hudson.
COURIC LEAVES CBS
Katie Couric officially announced that she will be leaving her post at CBS Evening News yesterday. In an interview with People magazine Couric said, “I have decided to step down from the CBS Evening News, I’m really proud of the talented team on the CBS Evening News and the award-winning work we’ve been able to do in the past five years in addition to the reporting I’ve done for 60 Minutes and CBS Sunday Morning. In making the decision to move on, I know the Evening News will be in great hands, but I am excited about the future.”
Katie is said to be in talks to host her own talk show, the details of which are still unclear. CBS has not yet announced a replacement for Katie’s Evening News spot, a position that was previously held by the likes of Bob Schieffer, Dan Rather, and Walter Cronkite.
DEMI MOORE’S NEW PROJECT
Demi Moore is also taking her career in another direction. The 48-year old actress is producing a new series for Lifetime, The Conversation, based on a Web Series by Amanda De Cadenet. The show will interview famous and regular women about universal issues that they all face like careers, relationships, body image, sexuality, politics and human rights.
Moore commented on the project saying, “Life is a tremendous balancing act and all too often we sit alone in our struggles to find solutions. The Conversation provides an intimate and inviting environment for women to share their challenges, provide insight into their own personal solutions and hopefully inspire others in the process. We hope that this is a forum where truly anything and everything can be discussed. Where women feel that they are no longer on the ‘outside looking in’ but are there connecting from the ‘inside out!’ I’m thrilled to have Lifetime as a partner in this endeavor as well as my other two projects already in development.”
KATE HUDSON ANNOUNCES ENGAGEMENT
Kate Hudson is another lady who is having a good week. The 32-year old actress announced her engagement to Muse frontman Matt Bellamy Wednesday morning on the TODAY show. Hudson was promoting her new film, Something Borrowed when host Matt Lauer slyly asked her to, “place your hand in my hand for a second, please? I just want to see something,” and asked about the enormous ring that she was sporting spurring Hudson to reveal that Bellamy had proposed to her last week.
Hudson and her fiancé are expecting their first child together, due this summer. She has a seven year old son, Ryder from her previous marriage to Counting Crows singer Chris Robinson. They divorced in 2007.
Hudson said of Bellamy, “He’s a beautiful man and I’m very excited,”
