Chris Brown launches ‘CB Breeds’ with loud protests from PETA

By  |

The R&B singer is known for making headlines that force the public to cringe, but now he’s sharing the spotlight with none other than….puppies.  Announced via the twitter account of his mom/ manager, Joyce Hawkings, a new website called CB Breeds is active.  Despite his new, furry sidekicks Brown is still getting some heat as critics are outraged over the page and the fact that Chris Brown is selling puppies online as a side business.

The site is far from polished, it is rudimentary at best, but it does star Brown himself holding one of the adorable puppies from the litter sporting a “puppy-dog look” that fans all over the cyber world are no doubt swooning over as they scrap to pull together $1,000 for one of Chris Brown’s puppies.  Cbbreeds.com also can connect you directly to paypal after you select a puppy to be put in your shopping cart.  This seemed to parrticularly rub activist the wrong way, PETA issued a statement that declared, “This is a moneymaking scheme, and Brown will count the suckers who fall for it as he counts the money on the way to the bank.”

The puppies were all born on February 25, 2012 and come as part of a package of goodies that include: registration, current vaccination, veterinarian examination, a health guarantee, and a four generation performance pedigree.  These three male and four female puppies are not just your run of the mill cute and cuddley companions.  Apparently, they are pure bred champions in the making.

Animal rights organizations are not only outraged by what the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals calls “backyard breeding,” but the site hits a particular soft spot because the puppies are purebred American Pitbull Terriers.   A dog breed known to have a hard time getting adopted.  SPCA LA President Madeline Bernstein had no reservations weighing in on the issue when stating,

“There is no reason to breed and produce more pit bull puppies when there are pit puppies waiting for homes in every shelter in America”

A publicist rep for Brown released a statement that the singer is not in fact starting a business, but is selling the pups that resulted from a pair of dogs his family has in Virginia.  The website and twitter blast were set up to make sure that the dogs go to a good home.  PETA still is adament that those looking for a new companion to join the family “ADOPT, never buy.”  As of right now the puppies are still being advertised as for sale with no updates on which fur balls have been claimed by those clamouring for a little piece of Chris Brown.
