Bill Cosby’s Trial: Latest News
The famed comedian, actor, and author was accused of sexual assault back in January 2004, and the trials have commenced. The jurors failed to make a verdict on Tuesday and will begin again today for further deliberation. Many women have previously accused Cosby for the same improper behavior and the trial is not going in his favor thus far; therefore, the future does not look bright for Cosby.
Back in January 2004, Cosby was specifically accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, who was a Temple University employee, which is Cosby’s alma matter in Philadelphia. He pleaded not guilty for three charges–assaulting Constand without her consent, assaulting her when she was unconscious, and assaulting her using drugs to substantially impair her ability to consent. With these three charges, Cosby is looking at 10 years in prison directly in the face.
The jury is composed of five women and seven men, fit to solve the crime. Their deliberations began on Monday and will continue through today, and however long it takes. Ultimately, Cosby’s frail future is in the hands of these five women and seven men.
Though Cosby refused to testify, his attorney Brian McMonagle is doing everything in his power to support him. He consisted that Cosby and Constand had a year-long consensual relationship and admitted that Cosby failed his wife by having an affair with this woman. McMonagle even physically pointed at Cosby’s wife during his 2-hour long and dramatic closing statement. Cosby has denied any wrong-doing throughout the entirety of the process.
Even though Cosby was typically known for his sense of humor, these actions are nothing to laugh about. Hopefully, the jury will figure out the truth behind the story and put Cosby or Constand in their rightful place. SD Entertainer will keep you posted on further details regarding the case. Stay tuned.
