As I Lay Dying Singer Arrested. Wants Wife Dead.
Tim Lambesis, lead singer of the Christian metal band As I Lay Dying from right here in San Diego was arrested for an attempt to employ a killer-for-hire to take care of an issue he had with his wife. Apparently Tim’s issue was a pretty general one… her.
Tim was arrested earlier today for trying to arrange his wife’s murder with a hit-man. Actually, he was an undercover officer. Police learned on Thursday of last week that he was actively looking for someone to carry out the heinous act. They moved hastily to ensure that no one was harmed in his efforts. He will be arraigned on Thursday and the charges are as follows: one count of solicitation of another to commit murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit crime.
Last September, his wife filed for divorce and sources say he was not too happy about it. Other than the San Diego Sheriff’s spokeswoman, it seems like there is nobody else who is willing to comment on the accusations, not the guy who lives next door nor his band’s record label.
“The information came to us late last week. We acted quickly on it. I believe that we averted a great tragedy,” commented San Diego County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Jan Caldwell. “We worked it around the clock until the arrest was made at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.”
Lambesis was shopping in Encinitas when police made the arrest. Police say there were no incidents apprehending him.
Lambesis was one of the founding members of As I Lay Dying, a Christian metal band that resided in the North County. Aside from being well respected in the metal community, in 2007 their album “An Ocean Between Us” made it to number 8 on the Billboard 200 and the next year they were nominated for a Grammy. The band was set to go on a US tour with Killswitch Engage starting early June. Not too sure that’s happening anymore…
