Actress Lindsay Lohan Placed Under House Arrest
Lindsay Lohan, known for her roles in the Disney film franchise and for her frequent arrests, has begun serving time in her home in Venice, California.
Lohan has starred in The Parent Trap (1998), Life-Size (2000), Get A Clue (2002), Freaky Friday (2003), Confessions of A Teenage Drama Queen (2004), Mean Girls (2004), Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005), and Just My Luck (2006) and has been known to the news and paparazzi as a partying type with a few run-ins with the law, including a DUI in 2010.
In February 2011 she was charged with theft at a jewelry store. The actress arrived at 5am at the Lynwood Jail. She was then quickly fitted an electronic ankle bracelet and released less than an hour later.
Lohan was sentenced to serve four months in jail after her pleading no contest to the theft, however due to her being a nonviolent offender and jail being constantly overcrowded, her sentence was changed. Due to these conditions, she was placed upon eligibility for house arrest. MTV news states that in April her theft was to be charged as a felony because of the necklace’s worth, but the charges were reduced to a misdemeanor.
After she serves her house arrest time, she is also required to serve 480 hours of community service. According to L.A. Times, of those 480 hours, she is to serve 120 hours of janitor duty at a coroner office in the L.A. County and the rest of the 360 hours at the skid row women’s shelter.
Her house arrest time may even get reduced to two weeks instead of 35 days if she shows signs of “good behavior.”
