The Shape of Water First Official Trailer
The first official trailer for Guillermo Del Toro’s new film, ‘The Shape of Water,’ looks imaginative, alluring, and somewhat frightening Known for movies like ‘Hellboy,’ and ‘Pan’s Labrynth,’ Del Toro will return to his roots and explore the minds of monsters for the upcoming film expected to come out in the fall.
‘The Shape of Water’ will star Elisa (Sally Hawkins), who is a mute woman and janitor during the cold-war era in the 1960s at a government facility. At the facility, the government has locked up a beautifully terrifying creature, who looks like a gigantic version of the Aqua-man. Over time, Elisa gains feelings for the creature and they develop a relationship, but the supervisor’s permanent furrowed eyebrow and excessive yelling concluded that he is not happy with their intimacy.
Some of the stars in the psychological drama include Octavia Spencer, who is best known for her roles in movies like ‘The Help” and her breakthrough role in ‘Hidden Figures.’ Other actors include Richard Jenkins (The Visitor), Michael Shannon (Man of Steel), and Michael Stuhlbarg (Doctor Strange).
Even though it seems like this film will go back to Del Toro’s roots considering the twisted story line and use of monsters, this is the first time Del Toro has issued a human to fall in love with one of his supernatural creatures. Thus, this film is expected to be unique from his past ones and we are excited to see what he’s capable of.
‘The Shape of Water’ was co-written with Vanessa Taylor, who is best known for her work on ‘Game of Thrones’ during the second and third season. She is also writing the new live action film of ‘Aladdin.’ Thus, we can assume that Del Toro and Taylor will produce something magical and dark with ‘The Shape of Water.’
