Going to the movies is always a fun time, but during the mild summer evenings in San Diego, why not take the experience outdoors? There are outdoor movie showings practically everyday this summer, with all sorts of movies for you to choose from. We’ve rounded up some of the best for you to check out, so bring your lawn chairs, popcorn, and snacks, and kick back and enjoy your outdoor movie outing.

August 1The Parent Trap – Pearl Hotel, Point Loma

What better way to beat the heat than to order a cocktail, take a dip in the pool, then grab some pool lounge chairs and catch a movie while relaxing. Not only will you be able to enjoy this classic film, but you’ll also be treated to a signature San Diego sunset.

This park setting is perfect for planning an entire day outing with the family. Set up a picnic, pour up a few glasses of wine while the kids get to play. Then, as the sun sets, settle in and enjoy this fun for all ages film. Plus, you can bring your furry friend – as long as you keep them on a leash.

Enjoy your very own picnic, along with some adult beverages while the kids run around and play. Leashed and well behave K-9s welcome.

Beers, bites, and a movie? Can it get any better! Bring your lawn chairs and set up your spot as early as 5 pm. Make sure you grab an ice cold craft brew and check out the Modern Times Beer tap takeover.

August 9 – La La Land – Rooftop Cinema Club

This cinema is situated on the terrace of the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego, a perfect setting to watch movies under the stars. Get there early to enjoy delicious food, ice cold drinks, stunning views and of course take that perfect skyline selfie.

Food trucks and concessions will be on site with snacks and drinks, so all you need is some beach chairs or a blanket to get cozy. Leashed pups are also welcome.

This ultimate outdoor movie experience features a massive 20-foot screen with HD projection and surround-sound speakers. You can even reserve single or double zero gravity recliners, loveseat cabanas, or deck chairs and ottomans. They also offer a variety of drinks, snacks and popcorn. Tickets will run you $17-20, but you’re getting the best of the best when it comes to outdoor movies.

With a bounce house and a “Build a Bug” activity for the kids, this is a perfect time to get the family together for a fun-filled evening.
