2019 is shaping to be a crazy exciting year for movies, with countless blockbusters planned for release throughout the year. These are the movies you’ll want to look forward to this year.
The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part – February 8
If you haven’t seen the first Lego Movie, boy are you missing out on some insanely fun laughs. The second entry in the series is shaping up to be just as good, with a cast too star-studded to not work.
Chaos Walking – March 1
An adaptation of the popular young adult fiction by author PAtrick Ness, Chaos Walking stars Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley as they try to navigate a dystopian world while pursued by a fascist dictator.
Captain Marvel – March 8
The next entrance in the Marvel series, Brie Larson is starring as the powerful Captain Marvel. Set in the 90’s, expect this one to be unlike any Marvel film we’ve seen yet.
Us – March 15
Jordan Peele is at it again with his unique blend of horror with the follow up to the critically acclaimed Get Out. Us follows a family that realizes they are being by terrorized by a meaning group of doppelgangers.
Dumbo – March 29
From the brilliant mind of Tim Burton, Dumbo is being adapted as a live-remake that follows the effortlessly lovable elephant with the curious ability to fly.
Pet Sematary – April 5
Stephen King adaptations have been on a roll as of late, and Pet Semetary does not seem like an exception. It tells the story of a family who moves into a New England home, only to discover a deadly secret about the backyard.
Under the Silver Lake – April 19
Starring Andrew Garfield, this film tells the tale of a Los Angeles man who investigates the strange disappearance of a mysterious woman who meets.
Avengers: Endgame – April 26
This will be the thrilling end to the long-running battle between the Avengers and the Titan warlord Thanos. Be prepared for the departure of some of Marvel’s biggest stars, as Endgame is shaping up to be a historic climax to the greatest superhero films to ever grace the big screen.
Pokemon: Detective Pikachu – May 10
A live-action adaptation of Pokemon may sound a little wacky, but with a bit of comedy and the voice of talented actor Ryan Reynolds starring as the beloved yellow creature, it may just get the job done.
John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum
This could potentially be the thrilling climax to one of the best action trilogies of the 21st century. See how John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves, must get outrun a gang of nameless assassins out to kill him.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix – June 7
Centered around Jean-Grey, X-Men returns with a familiar cast, as Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner is given the chance to shine as the films main star.
Men in Black: International – June 14
The fourth MIB film features a new cast starring Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth, as the shadowy group must protect the world from the omniscient threat of killer aliens.
Toy Story 4 – June 21
Be prepared for another addition to the Toy Story gang, this time with the toys embarking on another wild adventure.
Spider-Man: Far From Home – July 5
Goodbye New York. Spiderman is heading overseas, but the trouble still seems to find him, as new foes emerge that threaten to destroy those he loves.
The Lion King – July 19
This live-action remake from Jon Favreau features one of the most star-studded casts of the year, with James Earl Jones returning as Mufasa.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood – July 26
The ninth film from critically acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino will feature a behind-the-scenes look at Hollywood during the late 60’s, and will feature Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Al Pacino.
It: Chapter 2 – September 6
The second Stephen King adaptation this year, It: Chapter 2 follows the losers as they are all grown up, but the danger of Pennywise is far from over.
Zombieland 2 – October (TBD)
The cult classic is returning, with an unlikely group of survivors banding together to stay alive during the zombie apocalypse.
Joker – October 4
A Joke origin story starring Joaquin Phoenix? Yep, sign us up.
Star Wars: Episode IX – December 20
The newest Star Wars trilogy comes to a close, with J.J. Abrams coming back as the director to finish out this epic sci-fi series.
