Little Women on PBS and BBC One
We are excited to let you know that filming has begun for Playground Entertainment’s adaption of ‘Little Women.’ The three part miniseries will feature some of our favorite actors and actresses on PBS and BBC One, so get excited.
So far, it has been reported that Angele Lansbury is playing Aunt March and Emily Watson is playing Marmee. Also, Michael Gambon is expected to play the kindhearted neighbor Mr. Laurence. Furthermore, the March sisters will be played by four up and coming actresses. Maya hawke will play Jo, Willa Fitzgerald will play the eldest daughter Meg, Annes Elwy will play Beth, and Kathryn Newton will play sister Amy.
The Tv version of ‘Little Women’ will follow the four sisters from youth and through adulthood and is vividly inspired by Louisa May Alcott’s novel published in two parts in 1868 and 1869. The novel has already been created into other variations of films, as well.
This miniseries on PBS and BBC One will mirror the novel and take place during the time of the Civil War and the daughters receive help from their Mother Marmee considering their father is away at war. The girls suffer from losses yet seek many triumphs through love and war as they finally understand what it means to be a strong woman after going through many hoops and obstacles.
Creator of ‘The Call of the Midwife,’ Heidi Thomas, wrote ‘Little Women.’ Also, the miniseries is from Collin Callender’s Playground. Exec. producers are Callender and Sophie Gardiner for Playground; Thomas and Lucy Richer for the BBC; and Rebecca Eaton for Masterpiece.
