Spring 2011 Fashion: Wardrobe Update

By  |

Spring is here and that means it’s time for a wardrobe update! Put your winter gear in the very back of your closet and air-out your bathing suit, cut-off shorts and sun dresses for San Diego’s amazing Spring weather.  Head to Buffalo Exchange and get rid of the florals galore from last year and embrace these Spring-inspired trademark styles from Fashion Week 2011.  Sheer layers, prints and nudes are now on your shopping list for the weekend.

Sheer layers are a must-have straight out of fashion week.  This does not mean you have to go down the sidewalk in an X-rated transparent top, but instead layer the gauzy material over something solid for a cool peek-a-boo at those sexy shoulders.  Try American Apparel or Urban Outfitters for a style muse.

Prints cannot be emphasized enough, as long as you stick to one or two colors.  70’s inspired orange, blue, and tangerine will keep you looking fresh-faced without becoming too grandma-y. Look at these attractive pieces in Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 dress collection.

Buff, Beige, Nudes creams and neutrals are perfect for both the office and weekend outings.  Pair beige pieces with bold black or red to make sure you don’t look washed out, and choose colors that don’t exactly match your skin to stave off the double-takes and glaring eyes.  See Anthropologie’s embroidered blouse.

Basics are, well, basic. If you’re a tee shirt and jeans kind of person, then try a new spin on it with bold, bright colors to update those fundamental pieces.  Check out local designer Jessica Logan‘s custom-made lavender dress on etsy.

Spring cleaning never felt so good.
