Tip of the Week: Planning for 2010 Taxes
The San Diego Entertainer’s own financial expert, Steve Sexton, provides the Channel 6 San Diego Living show with a financial tip every Tuesday. We are thankful to be able to share his financial expertise with our readers in the youtube clip below.
This week on San Diego Living, Steve Sexton talked about the 2010 taxes and informs us what we need to do before April 15th.
First of all, it is important to take your required minimum distribution now, if you are over the age of 70. And if you are still working, then he recommends putting monies into your IRA.
Sexton provides important Tax Saving Tips to keep in mind during this tax season. Firstly, he says to review all income streams, including pension, social security, CD’s etc. And secondly, he says to determine your income needs for the following year.
Sexton advises all of us to plan for the 2013 tax season now. There are major changes that all tax payers need to watch out for because taxes are going up. Dividends are expected to rise from 15% to 39.6% and Capital Gains to move from 0% to about 15%.
“It makes a lot of sense to put the planning into place now as opposed to kicking the can down the road,” Sexton explains. “Stop that money from falling through the cracks” by preparing today.
Be sure to watch Steve Sexton below as he shares in detail how you can best prepare for the 2010 tax season.
