New Moon, new dilemmas
A week from today is November 20th, which to some people is just another Friday and days closer to Thanksgiving. But to those forever loyal to Edward Cullen or Jacob Black, November 20th is a day that has been marked on their calendars for months—it is the day that “New Moon” is released in theaters.
After the movie “Twilight” made its mark in 2008, fans have been excitedly anticipating “New Moon,” the second of the Twilight saga. To simply say that the Twilight saga is “popular” would be a huge understatement.
Not only is Twilight by Stephanie Meyer the #1 New York Times Bestselling series, it is a cultural phenomenon. The tantalizing story of the ultimate forbidden love affair attracts mainly teenage girls, but also people of all ages. Who wouldn’t want to read about a sexy vampire trying with all his might to resist the temptation of his innocent lover’s blood? What was even more exciting for fans was that they were able to see the story come to life on screen last November.
And now, a year later and finally just a week away, we get to see the second movie. And if you thought the unmanageable love affair between vampire and mortal couldn’t get any more complicated…well, all you need to do is watch the preview to be proven wrong.
Now that Edward Cullen (played by the gorgeous Robert Pattinson) has left, here enters Jacob Black (played by Taylor Lautner)—all grown up, stronger and, of course, shirtless. And it appears that he too has his own secrets and intentions. Betrayal is around every corner as loyalties are tested. Werewolves, vampires, enemies, lovers…the perfect recipe for an enticing movie experience.
And if you are a die-hard fan of Twilight, you may have seen the cast panel at San Diego’s Comic Con both last summer and this summer. Hundreds of fans camped outside of the San Diego Convention Center the night before in order to snag a good spot. And after seeing the premiere of two “New Moon” clips, and stars Kristen Stewart (who plays Bella Swan), Pattinson, Lautner and the many other good-looking cast members of the movie, it was “well worth the wait.”
In addition to the movie, there’s also the “What Drives Edward” New Moon Volvo Contest. Participating fans can compete to win premiere tickets and even a brand-new Volvo—an XC60, the kind that Edward drives in the movie. Fans must complete all six phases of the puzzle to unlock the final puzzle. Many fans, however, are having trouble with “What drives Edward, phase 4”. It is rumored that a question on Yahoo Answers points to a video that may help.
Although the eagerly awaited “New Moon” will be playing in most theaters all over San Diego County, be sure to get there early! And if you haven’t bought your tickets yet, buy them! Many fans have bought their tickets months in advance.
Whether you’re an overzealous fan or someone who’s never read the books, this movie is certainly going to be good, hot entertainment.
Twilight fans, where do your loyalties lie—Team Edward or Team Jacob?? We want to know, so reply to this post for one “hot” debate.
