By  |

The San Diego Entertainer’s own financial expert, Steve Sexton, provides the Channel 6 San Diego Living show with a financial tip every Tuesday. We are thankful to be able to share his financial expertise with our readers in the youtube clip below.

This week on the San Diego Living show, Steve Sexton talks about the importance of managing one’s mutual funds’ fees and expenses. He advises choosing a highly rated mutual fund, well-ranked in its category. Using the example of $1 per share at $100,000 shares, the upfront fees, management fees and annual fees can affect the success of your mutual fund.

He also advises choosing good management, keeping the long-term in mind. “It’s all about buying the best merchandise with the lowest fees,” Sexton explains, “because that way you save money from falling through the cracks and you get a higher return.”

In planning ahead, Sexton encourages viewers today to look at their mutual funds’ fees and expenses, always choose a highly ranked mutual fund and to only invest in funds where the manager is also personally invested.

Be sure to watch Steve Sexton below as he gives further insight on managing one’s mutual funds for the long-term.
