Our Favorite Thrift Stores to Save Some Cash and Still Look Fly

By  |

Have you been itching to go on a shopping spree? Sometimes its possible to treat yourself without feeling guilty about leaving a gaping hole in your wallet. Shopping at thrift stores is a great way to have a little fun at a decent price. Not to mention, you’ll find a lot of unique items at thrift stores that you’d never see at the mall. San Diego has a lot of great thrift shops, but here’s a list of our favorites:

Frock You Vintage Clothing

This little gem of a thrift shop is located in University Heights. The shop is heralded as a genuine vintage clothing store; they have everything from fancy mink coats to 40s, 50s, and 60s dresses. You’ll always find unique pieces here, and you’ll also have tons of fun shopping for them. There’s a wide selection and if clothing from yesteryear isn’t really your cup of tea, don’t worry! Frock You has modern pieces to choose from as well, and you won’t be disappointed. For a shop that carries beautiful vintage dresses, the prices are really reasonable. You can walk away with a bag full of great finds and some money left in your wallet!
Address: 4121 Park Blvd., San Diego, CA 92103

Buffalo Exchange

We know most of you have probably already heard of Buffalo Exchange (the down to earth thrift shop has been around for 40 years and now has 49 stores in 20 states). But we thought we needed to include it in our list because the store has become such a big name and such a big part of our best shopping extravaganzas. Perhaps the reason Buffalo Exchange has become such a big name is because each store has such a wide variety of men’s and women’s clothing, ranging from trendy to designer to vintage to everyday staples. You can shop for denim, shorts, tees, blouses, short-sleeve button-ups, dresses without breaking the bank. Unlike Frock You, Buffalo Exchange mostly carries newer styles. They have two locations here in San Diego in Pacific Beach and Hillcrest.

Thrift Trader

Thrift Traders has two locations in San Diego, one in North Park and one in Pacific Beach. This thrift shop is definitely unique. It’s not just a place to peruse the aisles for some great secondhand clothing, it’s so much more! Thrift Trader has a great selection of clothing, but they also sell vinyl records, CDs, and DVDs. You can come in and get a new (okay, lightly used) outfit, pick up some new jams, and also grab a good movie, all at a reasonable price! If you’re cleaning out your closet or you have a few things you’re willing to part with, bring ‘em down and trade ‘em in! You never know what you’ll find! Thrift Trader is pretty popular, so the inventory changes quickly!
Addresses: 1537 Garnet Ave., San Diego, CA 92109
2947 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92104

We hope you stop by one of these great establishments next time you feel like getting some new threads!
