Twilight in the Park 2013 Summer Concerts
After receiving positive reviews, the Twilight in the Park Summer Concerts has returned to Balboa Park for Summer 2013. Each week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, there will be live performances from a wide variety of bands. Different music groups will perform on different days. The concerts are scheduled to held at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in the evenings from 6:15 to 7:15. Admission is free for all.
To make the decision easier, we will post weekly descriptions of the bands that will perform each week.
This week:
June 19 – Cat-illacs (Rock ‘n Roll Classics)
Ready for some classic rock? The Cat-illacs band combines their musical talents and their love for rock music to perform great music in their concerts. The band plays their live music in many locations such as Sea Port Village, the Marina Restaurant, La Mesa’s Grossmont Center, and more. In July, they will be performing at the Berry Street Park Summer Concert in La Mesa. The band’s musical selections include songs from the 50’s to the 90’s. People of all ages and fans of all genres of rock n’ roll can come and enjoy their performance.
June 20 – Dixie Express (Dixieland Jazz)
Together since 2000, the Dixie Express Jazz Band have performed live quality jazz music all over San Diego County. Some of the events the band has performed at include the Oceanside Elk’s Mardi Gras Night, North Park Spring Festival, Julian’s 4th of July Parade, Escondido’s 4th of July at Grape Day Park and more. Members of the group come from the Dixieland Jazz Society’s workshops and jazz camps and have been together playing music ever since.
“The band plays traditional jazz, blues, ragtime, swing arrangements and crossover tunes with a touch of western swing” (Dixie Express Jazz Band).
For a sample of their beautiful music, come to Fudruckers restaurant at Grossmont Center every Wednesday night from 6-8. Grossmont Center is located in La Mesa.
