This Week’s Featured Bar/Club – 207 @ Hard Rock Hotel
Just off the lobby of the Hard Rock Hotel is the new Club 207. Pictures cannot capture the feeling. You are captivated by as you enter this newly renovated lounge.
Their latest creation at the three-year-old hotel, the Hard Rock incorporates the hip tradition of the first London establishment, old-western-decor, and edgy design.
Staying true to the “Old Town” days of San Diego, Club 207 hangs on to as much feel of the western days as it can. Wood columns stand approximately 12 ft high wrapping the booths to give the impression of a wooden barrel split in half. Dark wood beams form the lid of this modern venue just above the brick pillars styled with destruction.
The vaulted ceilings touch the sky and open the room as to extinguish any chance of a sultry feel. If you must, you can get some fresh downtown air, visiting the outdoor terrace.
From the entrance you notice the tomato red VIP sectionals at the other side of this mildly lit bar. These colorful sectionals stand out stealing attention from the room, with red crocodile blocks and grey shag carpet.
As you venture further the semicircle booths, encased in black leather, catch your eye. This is an ideal seat for those with a small entourage. Atop the tables lay quiet white candles below suspended crystal balls — all of which adding to the rock star vibe.
Centrally located, the bar attracts most of the attention with its white crocodile padded bar stools.
It is easy to see why Club 207 has become a hot spot in San Diego’s Gaslamp District. It’s a great place to catch a game, hang out with your friends and drink in the atmosphere.
