Summer has arrived this weekend, so get up, get out and enjoy America’s Finest City at these can’t miss events.
Friday, June 21
Food Truck Friday at Balboa Park
Kick off your summer weekends in style every Friday evening at Balboa Park’s hottest after-hours event from 4:00 -8:30 pm. Visitors of all ages can enjoy live entertainment and activities for kids while eating gourmet dishes from a rotating selection of more than a dozen popular food trucks parked on the Plaza de Panama and El Prado walkway. Throughout the summer, Food Truck Fridays will present different musical performers or DJs each night in the Plaza de Panama.
California Wine Festival
Guests are invited sip on fine wines and taste a variety of delicacies at the beautiful Park Hyatt Aviara Resort Golf Club & Spa’s Palm Courtyard. This is an elegant VIP event for true fine wine lovers, located in one of San Diego County’s most beautiful coastal cities – Carlsbad. The event starts at 6:30 pm. Get your tickets here.
Hootie & the Blowfish, with Barenaked Ladies
Hootie & the Blowfishare bringing their highly anticipated Group Therapy Tour with special guests Barenaked Ladies to North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre on Friday, June 21 at 7:30 pm. This tour is the first time Hootie has officially toured in 10+ years. Get tickets at livenation.com.
The Sandlot (1993) at Rooftop Cinema Club
Rooftop Cinema Club will be showing The Sandlot (1993) at 8:30 pm atop Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego. With its stunning views of the city from every angle imaginable, Rooftop Cinema Club is revolutionizing the movie-going experience in its unique and one-of-a-kind setting underneath and among the stars. Wonderspaces: In Common
Prepare to immerse yourself in a world of wonder. The traveling art exhibit, Wonderspaces, returns with more than a dozen more interactive pieces for you to explore. The theme of this year’s exhibit, “In Common,” explores how people are shaped by their experiences, environments, and relationships. Get tickets here.
Saturday, June 22
The 40th Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off Festival
Join more than 70,000 visitors for an oceanfront chili cook-off, an array of food and merchandise vendors, 4 stages of continuous music, the Community Mural Project, a Local Art & Artisans showcase, and more. The one-of-a-kind Hodad’s Burger-Eating Competition will offer contestants a chance to be featured on the Hodad’s Wall of Fame in Ocean Beach and the Beachside Bar will be rockin’ all day for guests 21+ looking to enjoy an ice-cold brew or cocktail with an ocean view and live music from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Paul McCartney at PetCo Park
Paul McCartney makes his return to Petco Park on Saturday, June 22. Gates open at 6:00 pm. The Paul McCartney live experience is everything any music lover could ever want from a show: Nearly three hours nightly of the greatest moments from the last 50 years of music, dozens of songs from Paul’s solo, Wings and of course Beatles catalogues that have formed the soundtracks of our lives. A limited number of tickets are still available.
Dip Day Club Party
San Diego residents no longer have to face the long drive or crowded weekend flights to get a taste of Sin City parties. Beginning Memorial Day weekend, Sycuan Casino Resort brings Vegas-style day clubs to San Diego with Dip, a monthly, adults-only summer party at Retreat Pool & Cabanas. Dip Day Club will take the pool experience to a new level in partnership with Five Group (KAABOO, Hakkasan Las Vegas, STK), a local event management company behind some of the most notable experiential festivals and parties in the region.
Fairy Festival
Don’t miss a garden full of fairies at the annual Fairy Festival at the San Diego Botanical Garden from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Guests can spend the day taking pictures, leave a wish in the wishing bush, visit the Fairy Land Market, and make fairy-themed crafts. Settle in with some kid-friendly live entertainment as well.
Cheech & Chong
Stoner-hippie comedic duo Cheech & Chong bring their hilariously irreverent satirical counter-culture no holds barred comedy routine to Viejas Concerts in the Park on Saturday, June 22 at 7:30 pm. Watch them perform live outdoors. Must be 21+. Get your tickets here.

San Diego County Fair
The “Oz-some” 2019 San Diego County Fair is going strong over at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, with jam-packed days filled with entertainment, games, rides, activities and, of course, those outrageous, fried and flavorful fair foods.
Festival of Yoga and Healthy Living
This will be our second year celebrating at Downtown’s beautiful Waterfront Park, and we’ve drastically expanded the scope of this years’ event, adding 4 uniquely curated tents that focus on everything from Sound Immersion to Asana to Meditation & Healthy Living. We’ve also partnered with over a dozen of San Diego’s most well-known and trusted yoga studios to present teachers specializing in an incredibly wide range of yogic activities, with something perfect for attendees of all experience level.
San Diego International Triathlon
Join in on one of San Diego’s longest traditions this Sunday at Spanish Landing Park starting at 6:30 a.m. The 37th annual event has tickets available for $130. Bring your family and friends out for a day they won’t forget!
Khalid with Clairo
Grammy-nominated R&B artist Khalid will be performing at the Pechanga Arena with Clairo as part of his Free Spirit world tour. Doors open at 7:30 pm; get your tickets here.
