This Weekend in San Diego 10/6 – 10/8
Now that fall is here, it’s officially time to start celebrating the holidays. This weekend you can fill your time with Oktoberfest, fairs, and of course wine. This weekend is just around the corner, and it’s time for a new adventure.
Start this weekend off with another Oktoberfest in Ocean Beach. Ocean Beach Oktoberfest starts on Friday October 6th and the party doesn’t stop until Saturday October 7th at 11 pm. This is the only Oktoberfest located at the beach, and has live music, games, and even yoga classes. On Saturday you can partake in the Brat Trot 2k run and enjoy unlimited beer tastings from 12 different breweries with German-inspired beers that’ll refresh you after your run. Enjoy two days of delicious food and tasty beers while being in an upbeat environment that’ll kick start your weekend.
Spend your Friday night at the biggest poetry event of the year at the Woodstock Festival of Oral Glory. You can listen or partake in open mic readings and hear the words from some of the best poets in San Diego. There will be readings from poets publications and every single donation made helps The Garden Theatre Festival. Help keep art alive and embrace your love for poetry all in one.
Stay active this weekend and spend your Saturday at the 5th Annual Pacific Beachfest 5k. Run towards the finish line through the beach and boardwalk, and be a part of the most popular beach run in Pacific Beach. You will be rewarded a shirt, medal, sunglasses, and a free beer to replenish you after your workout. Make a day of it and enjoy the drinks and live music, while celebrating your Saturday.
If you want to spend your Sunday outside exploring the great outdoors, you can be a part of the Curious Plant adventure at Mission Trails Regional Park. You will be led by a tour guide through the park to learn more about the Laurel Sumac. The Laurel Sumac is a “taco” plant, and has extremely unique leaves. This adventure walk is a relaxing break and allows you to learn more about nature and to be a part of an informative activity outdoors.
If you are looking to partake in a family activity or adventure, the Eat Better Art: Eat Local cooking classes will allow you to cook with your whole family. These series of classes are meant for parents and children to take together so they can build on teamwork, and learn more about nutrition and why it’s important to eat healthy. You can create amazing dishes with your family and be creative at the same time. Create memories while you cook and learn with your kids giggling right by your side.
It’s not a weekend in San Diego unless there is wine and a festival involved. The La Jolla Art + Wine Festival will partake this Saturday and Sunday, and is the perfect spot for local artists and makes a great day out on the town. Enjoy a day filled with inspiring art and even better wine and beer, as the breweries and wineries help you celebrate the talented artists in San Diego. The environment is complete with calm vibes, a delicious market place, and of course drinks. Make a day out of your love for wine and art while creating new memories during your relaxing weekend.
Enjoy a spiritual experience at the Psychic Fair this Saturday in Escondido. There will be numerous vendors, big trees to relax under, and a meditation garden that you can explore. You can also be a part of readings for yourself, or you can watch others as mediums talk to you about your life, hopes, and desires. Whether you are superstitious or not, this event is perfect for anyone who is interested in relaxation methods or anyone who is curious about this art form.
Enjoy your first weekend of October and enjoy your relaxing weekend!
