This Weekend In San Diego 10/11-10/13
The continuation of Fall festivities takes place right here in San Diego! Whether you are a foodie, a beer connoisseur, or just like to have some fun on the weekends, we’ve got you covered with all the top events happening this weekend.
Friday, October 11
Ocean Beach Oktoberfest
Kick-off the weekend with some craft beer and pretzels at the Ocean Beach Oktoberfest this Friday, October 11 – Saturday, October 12. From 4 pm -12 am there will be a beer garden, live entertainment, balloon blowing contest, stein holding contest and much more! Saturday events will feature a bratwurst eating contest, German food, craft beer and much more from 11 am – 12 am. For $5, join in on the fun, for a SoCal version of an Oktoberfest.
Lana Del Rey
The American Indie-Pop singer will perform this Friday at the Cal Coast Credit Union at the SDSU at 8 pm. This tour will mark her fifth time touring of all time, as this tour is name The Norman F-cking Rockwell Tour. Known for “Summertime Sadness,” and “Born to Die,” sing and dance along to the pop artist this Friday in the amphitheater!
Harvest Festival Original Art and Craft Show
This year will mark the 47th Annual family-owned and operated Harvest Festival that will take place at the Del Mar Fairgrounds all weekend long from 10 am – 6 pm. 24,000 handmade creations, specialty foods, live entertainment, a KidZone, prizes and more will be available.
Goat Run
Celebrate the Navy’s birthday with challenging obstacles and a 2-mile run. The run will begin at 7-9 am at the Admiral Prout Field House and is free to the public. A medal will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers, along with an event T-shirt.
Polish Festival
Whether you have Polish roots or want to indulge in polish food and drinks, join the annual Polish festival in Pacific Beach. This three-day event, starting this Friday, October 11, through Sunday, October 13 will have plenty of activities for all to enjoy. They will have Polish folk dancers, various musical bands, Polish beer, and delicious Polish food. Hours are Friday 5-11:30 pm, Saturday 2-11 pm and Sunday 12-5 pm. Admission is $4.
Saturday, October 12
Dog Fest
Grab your furry friend and head on down to the Waterfront Park where a dog-friendly event will take place from 10 am -2 pm. Enjoy a day full of music, food, inspiring speakers, dog demonstrations and more! All proceeds will go toward the Canine companions. Tickets are $25 when you purchase in advance online or $30 at the event.
La Jolla Art and Wine Festival
The 11th Annual La Jolla Art and Wine Festival will return this weekend, October 12 – 13 from 10 am -6 pm. Over 150 artists will be participating in this art show, from all across the U.S. and Mexico. Fine glass, ceramics, woodwork, mixed media, jewelry design, and photography will be displayed. This is a free fundraiser event open to the public and is also pet-friendly! The mission of this event is to bring in funds for local public schools and to promote local merchants. Craft breweries, craft distilleries, and wine will also be present during this event.
Spartan Race
Are you ready to get down and dirty while competing with others? Well, then you might just want to sign up for the Spartan Race! This race is a fun yet challenging obstacle course for you and your team to compete in. The race will begin at 5 am, but be sure to get there earlier to check in with your team. Tickets are $35 per person, that includes a finisher shirt and dog tag medal, along with exclusive deals on future Spartan Races.
San Diego Oktoberfest
The German-themed event will feature fresh pretzels, schnitzels, sausages and of course best in class beer. Bring out your lederhosen and sample beer from 12-8 pm all day. General admission is $20 per person or for an extra $10 on top of that you can get VIP entry into a beer garden.
Sunday, October 13
Santee Drive-In Theater
Nothing like an old fashion drive-thru on a fall evening. Grab your blankets and open up that trunk to enjoy several movies. The drive-in is open from 7:30 Sunday through Saturday, with movies beginning at 8 pm. The Joker, It Chapter 2, Abdominal and Angry Birds 2 are currently showing this weekend. Once you purchase your movie, the cashier will give you direction on which radio station to tune into and where to park. If you plan on getting popcorn, candy or a snack, credit cards are only acceptable in the snack bar. Adult prices (ages 13+) are $9, Juniors (ages 5-12) are $4 and children under 4 are free.
Jazz Brunch Cruise
Cruise along the bay and enjoy a decadent brunch buffet with free-flowing champagne. What’s better than free champagne? This two-hour long cruise is offered on both Saturday’s and Sunday’s departing at 11 am. The buffet includes American breakfast dishes, lunch entrees, and a dessert bar.
Belmont Park – Kid’s Free October Deals
Sitting right on the Mission Beach Boardwalk is San Diego’s iconic amusement park, full of rides, games, and delicious treats. This month, the park is offering October deals for kids, including a free ride wristband, free $10 power card, free admission to escapology rooms and more with purchase at the park.
Full Moon Pier Walks with Birch Aquarium
There is nothing like a beautifully lit ocean, by the reflection of a full moon. Whether you are an oceanographer or just like nature, join Birch Aquarium on an exclusive moonlit tour this Sunday night from 6-7:30 pm. This program will give others the opportunity to engage with hands-on activities and learn more about bioluminescent organisms. The price is $30 for members and $35 for the public.
San Marcos Harvest Festival
The Annual San Marcos Harvest Festival is back this Sunday from 9 am – 5 pm. This event is free to the public that will feature more than 200 local artisans, retailers, and entertainment. Kids are encouraged to join as there will be a Grand Kid’s Fest with carnival rides, local bands, and kid’s performances. A variety of food and beer vendors will also be participating.
