The San Diego Festival of Beer returns Sep. 23rd
If you happen to like beer, and are in need of something to do this weekend, then you’re in luck. The nonprofit group, San Diego Professionals Against Cancer, announced that the annual San Diego Festival of Beer is making its return to Broadway Pier on September 23rd from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
With 60 participating Breweries, attending guests will have a chance to sample 120 varieties of beer, cider and mead throughout the festival. The event will also feature various food trucks, participating nearby restaurants, and live music.
Not only will your beer cravings be fulfilled, but all proceeds from the festival will go to local cancer related charities. This is the 22nd annual San Diego Festival of Beer, and to date, the event has raised nearly $700,000.
Each year, the festival’s attendees are encouraged to dress up along with the associating theme. This year, the festival is sporting a political theme, so everyone can wear their best red, white and blue getup’s and drink beer all night long.
2,500 people are expected to attend this year’s Festival of Beer, and tickets are $50 dollars online and at the door, you can purchase them here. Any visitors who pre-purchase a ticket will be allowed to bypass the ticket line and head straight on in to the festivities.
Each ticket gets you admission into the event, unlimited beer tasting and a souvenir tasting mug for the 1,500 attendees to walk through the entrance. There will be plenty of wine, food, and merchandise for purchase throughout the event.
For once, your habit of beer drinking will go to a wonderful cause. According to the San Diego Professionals Against Cancer Board President, Carri Chandler, the organization has “already donated $55,000 to local cancer-fighting organizations.”
The event is run by a helpful team of 300 volunteers, which allows the organization to donate the proceedings from the festival to deserving charities.
The 2016 participating breweries include Acoustic Ales, 10 Barrel, Aftershock Brewing Company, Bolt Brewery and 56 other delicious breweries. So put on your beer drinkin’ pants and head down the Broadway Pier Friday night for not only a good time, but a great cause.
