Super Bowl LI: The Final Details
Alright, San Diego. It’s been a couple of weeks since we received the tragic news that the Chargers would depart to L.A., so it’s about time we overcome the breakup and channel our football energy elsewhere. What better place than the Super Bowl?
This Sunday, February 5th, the New England Patriots will battle the Atlanta Falcons at 3:30PM (PST) on Fox for the 2017 Championship. This is the ninth time that the Patriots have played in the Super Bowl, and only the second for the Falcons, but don’t let that speak for how this game will play out. The 51st annual Super Bowl is continuing its tradition of loud camaraderie, friendly betting, and entertaining commercials.
Are you looking for a place to watch the game?
NBC 7 San Diego released a list of restaurants and bars that are hosting the game this year, with activities and specialty items.
Soda & Swine in Liberty Station will be playing the game on their big screens and serving unique items like Walking Tacos, tacos stuffed with mac & cheese and chili Fritos. Yep, you read that right.
Is half of your party not really interested in football, but always up for a party? Consider dropping into Coin Haus’ Backyard BBQ, with smoked meat food trucks and a giant screen on the patio and PacMan and other arcade games inside. This one-of-a-kind party will be going from 12-6PM on Sunday.
Check NBC’s link for a handful of options.
Watching the game at home this year?
We get it. You really want to host a Super Bowl party, but you don’t have cable and don’t want to pay for a subscription pass, because let’s face it, you’re not that into football. Except when the Super Bowl is on. No fret. The Fox Sports Go App (and NFL App, for Verizon users) is allowing viewers to skip the authentication process and watch the game live. Set up your Roku, Chromecast, XBOX, or any other device that you own and cast the game right onto your t.v.

Although last year’s commercials were full of hot wings, Dorito babies, and Hondas, this year’s choices have already been deemed unfit for the Super Bowl. The New York Times released an article describing the push-back some advertisers received because their messages were too politically controversial. Watch this Sunday to find out who made the cut.
Oh, and don’t forget about the most important game of the day, the Puppy Bowl.
However you decide to celebrate this year, we hope you are able to gather around with friends and family to cheer, celebrate, and forget about the loss of our Chargers.
