San Diego Pride Festival 2016
One of San Diego’s biggest parties is back! Starting on July 16th, San Diego is yet again host to one of the biggest parties of the year, the San Diego Pride Festival. Also known as LGBT pride, the nonprofit organization hosts an annual three-day celebration with concerts, food and drinks, art and more. The festival is believed to be one of the largest events in San Diego as the parade has more than 200 floats every year and a massive crowd of over 100,000 looking on.
Starting on Friday, July 15th, the Pride of Hillcrest Block party kicks off Pride weekend going from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Featuring local Dj’s, carnival rides and complimentary craft cocktails for the first 300 guests, you won’t want to miss this celebration.
On July 16th, 2016, there will be the annual parade, typically lasting for two hours, which will begin at the Hillcrest Pride Flag at University Avenue in Hillcrest, and ends at Laurel Street. From there, festival-goers can head into the festival where they will celebrate LGBT all day long. The event, located in Balboa park, includes 200 musicians, performers, amazing shopping venues, and dozens of vendor booths for you to enjoy while you support the LGBT community. This year, Pop-Star, Kesha will be headlining the annual Pride festival, along with many other local musicians, and live entertainment.
“Everyone with an open heart and open mind is welcome to the San Diego Pride Music Festival!” -San Diego Pride
The Parade has been going on annually since 1975, and continues to grow every year. Festival goers attending this year’s Pride festival can expect a fun-filled weekend in a fabulous setting. Though the festival is focused on supporting the gay community, the event welcomes all ages and all people to join in on the colorful gathering.
