Partying for a better future: a world without type 1 diabetes
Young professionals will party all night on Saturday, Dec. 1, in the spirit of philanthropy, as Philanthro hosts its third annual All-City Event, Re:Union, to benefit JDRF. Guests will be donning their finest clothes, dancing to guest DJs, at Gaslamp’s Ivy Nightclub at Andaz to support type 1 diabetes awareness (T1D).
According to JDRF, as many as three million Americans may have T1D. Re:Union aims to bridge the gap between socializing with friends and supporting a worthwhile cause.
“We are excited to join our colleagues nationally to host an event in support of JDRF,” said Philanthro San Diego co-president Larissa Low. “Re:Union allows us to bring our peers together for a fun night out, while supporting research for type 1 diabetes. JDRF is at the forefront of efforts in improving technology for those with type 1 diabetes and we are proud to connect young professionals to this cause.”
Along with San Diego, Philanthro chapters in Los Angeles, Seattle and San Francisco will host parties on the same night for one huge impact. 100 percent of net proceeds from the events will support JDRF’s goals for T1D research and improving the lives of those affected by T1D by accelerating progress on opportunities for curing, better treating and preventing T1D.
“We are very grateful for this type of support from the community” said Sean McParland, Executive Director of JDRF San Diego. “It is inspiring to see groups like Philanthro cultivating the paradigm of giving back among our young professionals and in doing so creating the next generation of local philanthropists.”
Tickets to Re:Union are available at http://reunionsd.eventbrite.com. General admission tickets range from $10-20. Pre-purchase is required as there will not be tickets sold at the door; it is also the only way to ensure cover goes to JDRF. Attendees must also be at the door by 11 p.m. to gain admittance with these tickets.
Philanthro is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to engage young professionals in philanthropy, by serving as the leading platform for young professionals to connect with charitable causes through social, volunteer and leadership activities. Philanthro is a 100 percent volunteer-based organization, with all members holding other full-time jobs.
