OB Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off

The 38th Annual Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off in Ocean Beach is on June 24th. People come from all over to crowd the streets of OB and take part in this fun summer kick-off celebration. The street fair will close down a few blocks for the day to make room for hundreds of vendors and 5 music stages. The OB Street Fair is eclectic fun in the sun for all ages. Last year, the event brought in 70,000 visitors, and this year will be no different. The Street Fair is an all day event from 10am to 8pm and includes tasty festival nosh, art, beachfront entertainment, shopping, and more. The OB Street Fair is a free event and a great way to start your weekend!

The Chili Competition features tastings from amateur entrants competing for the titles of Hottest Chili, Judges’ Award, and Grand Prize: People’s Choice Award. The Chili Cook-Off competition is held in the grassy area near the corner of Newport Avenue and Abbott . Competitors will show off their chili cooking chops by competing for great prizes, not to mention the satisfaction of winning! If eating (rather than cooking) delicious chili is more your speed, you can put your tastebuds to the test and cast a vote alongside the judges! Chili tasting begins at 11am.

There will be five different stages with nonstop music throughout the day. Music genres will include acoustic, rock, blues, alternative, Americana, and more. You’ll be entertained by musicians from all over the world, including some from right here in our own backyard. Musicians include names like Bad Science Fiction, Dubbest, Millionaire Beach Bums, The Skinny Dippers, and more.

You can also visit Artists Alley and peruse handmade items from local and regional artists and crafters. Enjoy shopping for handcrafted and unique items along with entertaining demonstrations from the artists who created them. The Beachside Beer Garden will be rockin’ all day for guests 21+ looking to enjoy an ice cold brew with an ocean view. The beer garden will be right next to the main stage with live music from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
