Memorial Day Activities in San Diego
Kick off your summer with backyard barbecues, half-yearly sales and outdoor concerts this Memorial Day weekend in San Diego. Fun activities abound for the young, old and in-between, so don’t fret if you haven’t made plans yet. There is a plethora of goings-on to choose from.
In Remembrance
Memorial Day is a national holiday to honor those fallen soldiers, veterans and active duty members of the armed forces. In honor of these brave women and men, Greenwood Memorial Park will hold a free Memorial Day service on Monday, May 30 at 1:30pm at 4300 Imperial Avenue in San Diego with the help of American Legion San Diego Post 6.
Family Activities
The Rancho Bernardo Historical Society is sponsoring a Memorial Day Pancake Festival, held this year at the Bernardo Winery. There will be a live music performance by the Dixie Strutters, raffle prizes, and pancakes galore. Military and veterans will be given free breakfast! as well. Tickets are just $6 at the door. The event takes place from 8am to Noon at 13330 Paseo Del Verano Norte San Diego, California, United States 92128.
Who can say Memorial Day without “Sale”? Both Nordstrom’s and Victoria’s Secret half-yearly sales take place this weekend across the country. You can also visit the Carlsbad or the Las Americas Premium Outlets for even more savings on already discounted prices.
Hard Rock’s Intervention Sunday is San Diego’s hottest daytime pool party and will host two events this weekend. On Saturday May 28, #1 DJ in the World Armin Van Buuren will headline, sure to get you moving with hits such as Mirage and In and Out of Love. Sunday May 29 brings British trance music group Above and Beyond to the Intervention stage, performing impressive mixes of their latest compositions.
The House of Blues San Diego is also featuring The Burnsville Band Saturday night at 7pm for a free live show you can catch while having dinner in the restaurant.
