Mardi Gras San Diego
The SD Entertainer was in attendance of San Diego’s world famous Mardi Gras festival. Each year, thousands of people venture into the heart of Downtown San Diego for one of the country’s biggest Mardi Gras events.
Mardi Gras, also commonly referred to as Fat Tuesday, took place for the first time in the United States in 1837. Its U.S. home, of course being New Orleans, has been celebrating the holiday for quite some time, but why should they get to have all the fun? Last Tuesday, The SD Entertainer was able to attend the event to see for ourselves what an awesome party Mardi Gras, San Diego is. It was a night of drinks, dancing and DJs as the event took place in downtown San Diego.
Though it wasn’t the French Quarter, it could have fooled us as costumes, masks and beads were worn by the thousands of people who gathered on 5th street in the Gaslamp District to celebrate the New Orleans-based holiday. The event included performances, by numerous DJ’s such as DJ Beatick, DJ Karma and a special performance.
Snoop Dog came out to perform. If you missed it this year make sure to get yourself a ticket to the party next year, you wont regret it.
