Incredible Christmas Light Displays In San Diego

There are many activities to get you in the spirit of being merry. From ice skating to caroling, and tree decorating to cookie baking, the spirit of Christmas is one to be shared with loved ones. Get in the holiday spirit this Christmas and by gazing in awe at some of the best and brightest light displays around town. Hop in the car and head over to these local areas featuring dazzling displays for a truly magical Christmas light experience.

Candy Cane Lane – Poway 

This neighborhood transforms into a winter wonderland, as each house on the street is lit up by giant inflatables, dazzling lights, and holiday decorations. The area can get pretty backed up if you’re driving, so just bring your patience, some holiday cheer, and a warm cup of coffee or hot cocoa! Of course, there are areas to park and walk around as well if you prefer to do so.

San Diego Bay Parade of Lights

The annual Parade of Lights will be taking place on December 15, starting at 5 PM. This time-honored tradition features a twinkling array of lights, decorations, and holiday fun. The theme for this year is “Comic-Con on the Bay,” so expect your favorite superhero to be represented in true holiday fashion. This event is free to attend, with multiple locations for viewing.

Garrison Street Lights – Point Loma

These extravagant estates don’t hold back during the holidays, as these beautiful houses are transformed into a stunning Christmas light display. Lights are turned on at dusk and remain on until 10 PM. This area is best experienced on foot, so be sure to bundle up. 

Botanic Wonderland – Encinitas 

230 Quail Gardens Dr. 

San Diego’s Botanic Gardens are getting a Christmastime makeover, and for the first time ever, select areas of the Hamilton Children’s Garden and Toni’s Treehouse will be lit up with holiday cheer! In addition, there will be a visit from Santa, crafting, and a real snow play area!

Carmel Mountain Ranch – Fairway Village at Stoney Gate Pl.

Nearly 100 homes have banded together to bring San Diego one of the best neighborhood light displays this year. You can drive through or take a stroll while enjoying cocoa, cookies, and music in this annual block party Christmas extravaganza.

Knob Hill – San Marcos

Known for their brilliant displays of Christmas Lights, Knob Hill is back once again to spread holiday cheer. With nearly 100,000 lit-up lights, Knob Hill is North County’s best and brightest when it comes to Christmas Lights. The area also features the home of the one and only, Mr. Christmas, a famous local who spends months getting his home prepared for the Christmas season. Lights are on between 5-9 PM.
