Go forth on the Fourth: Four fun ideas for you
Here’s four fun ways to celebrate your independence in San Diego on July 4, 2013:
One: Big Bay Boom July 4th Fireworks Show
After experiencing a few glitches in 2012, the BBB this year plans on making up for it, big time. With fireworks shooting from four separate spots surrounding San Diego Bay, the Big Bay Boom is the largest combined show in the county, and it’s free! Consisting of fireworks shows at Shelter Island, Harbor Island, the Embarcadero and Seaport Village/Coronado Landing, the place to see it all is from the balcony of several downtown hotels overlooking the bay.
Two: Hornblower 4th of July Cruises
For those who like the sound of observing the Fourth from the comfort of a yacht, Hornblower Cruises and Events provides a trio of experiences that all involve viewing the Big Bay Boom show while enjoying one’s favorite beverage in a big boat on the big bay.
- VIP Fireworks Dinner Cruise – three hours, includes gourmet dinner, cocktails and champagne, DJ
- Fireworks Celebration Dinner Cruise – three hours, DJ, champagne and cocktails, gourmet dinner
- Red White & Blue Cruises – one and two hours, narrated bay tour
Three: National City 4th of July Carnival
Starting on Saturday, June 29th and running through July 4th, National City’s family-centered celebration offers free admission and lots of good clean fun. From the Kimball Park location, attendees will enjoy the South Bay fireworks, the Miss National City Pageant, and more rides, games, food and drink than you’ll know what to do with.
Four: All-American County Fair Fireworks at the San Diego County Fair
Said by many to be the premiere fireworks show in the county, the final night of the San Diego County Fair, at the Del Mar Fairgrounds puts the exclamation point on the month-long fair. Along with the 4th of July show, the fair offers games, rides, vendors, exhibits, farm animals, unique fair food and live music.
