For many, Christmas is a time to gather with family after a long year of work, work, and more work.
Vocational duties can grow tiresome, which spurs you on to escape with others for entertainment and activities that can draw you away from the stressful duties and responsibilities that your life dictates on a regular basis.
Here are a few activities in San Diego to help ease your mind during the holidays.

What: The San Diego Botonical Gardens undergo a transformation of spectacular lights during the holiday season. Over 125,000 lights shine on the 37-acre exotic scenery, which makes for memorable family experience.

What: The Lamb’s Players Theatre has been a the staple of one of San Diego’s hallmark backdrops for outstanding plays in both the present and past. “The Angel’s Arms” takes the audience through the year of 1860 when an eccentric inn and its residents help Jeffrey Scott recover his creativity.

What: Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas is arguably one of the most acclaimed Christmas classics, and now it’s playing at the Old Globe Theatre to bring Whoville back to San Diegans once again. Songs to be featured are “This Time of year,” Santa for a Day” and “Fah Who Doraze.”
San Diego Bay Parade of Lights

When: Dec 11 and Dec 18
Price: Free
What: The 45th annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights acts as the quintessential getaway for the average boater in the community. The boat parade lasts approximately one hour with multiple arrival locations including: Shelter Island, Harbor Island, The Embarcadero, Seaport Village and Ferry Landing on Coronado.
The San Diego Civic Youth Ballet
Where: 1650 El Prado
When: Dec 7 – 18
Price: Lowest price is $12
What: The San Diego Youth Ballet has run plays at the vintage Casa del Prado since 1945, making it the perfect traditional backdrop for the entire family. This holiday season, the Nutcracker will be playing at this location, so make sure to bring all of your friends and family.
