February is Museum Month in San Diego
All throughout February, participating San Diego museums are offering half-off admission with your free pass available at any Macy’s in San Diego, Temecula or Imperial Valley. And, one pass is good for up to four half-off admissions, so family and friends are welcome to join you in the fun!
This annual event allows locals and visitors alike to enjoy the cultural offerings of our historic city. Over 40 famed museums, historical sites and educational institutions all over San Diego invite you to explore their original art and scientific innovations that make-up the diverse area of San Diego County.
While museums are located all across the county, Balboa Park surely marks the hub of this annual occasion. The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center is one museum that offers over 100 hands-on science exhibits like Earth Exposed! and Block Busters, and an IMAX theater with various films showing every hour starting at 12pm.
The Birch Aquarium at Scripps is another participating location in La Jolla, and part of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego. Their exhibits include a Shark Reef, There’s Something About Seahorses, and a Tide Pool Plaza where visitors can get an up-close view and even touch certain sea animals like starfish, hermit crabs, sea cucumbers and lobsters.
For a more sophisticated look at artistic enterprises, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego – Downtown is the place to go. Featured exhibitions include Raul Cordero: Hendrickje, Jennifer Steinkamp: Madame Curie, and Joan Jonas: The Shape, The Scent, The Feel of Things. MCASD is located on 1100 & 1001 Kettner Boulevard (between Broadway and B Street) San Diego, CA 92101.
There is something for everyone during Museum Month. Take this opportunity to discover San Diego from a new perspective!
