Check out North PB Nights tonight!
When most people think Pacific Beach (or PB, as locals refer to it), attention tends to focus towards the bar scene on Garnet Avenue or along Mission Boulevard. But there are other nooks of PB that are off the beaten path — areas much less crowded that are great places to explore or spend your day.
The best of these is along Cass and Turquoise Streets, two thoroughfares with much less foot and car traffic, but with fantastic bars, restaurants and mom & pop shops that most people visiting PB don’t even know about, much less visit.
North PB Nights seeks to give this area of town the spotlight. The event takes place every Thursday evening during the summer, from 5 to 9pm, and it showcases some of the best shops, galleries and eateries North PB has to offer. Put on by the folks over at Discover PB, the event is a creative way to encourage people to come out and spend an evening in Pacific Beach, but without all the craziness, loud rap music and out-of-control drinking you normally see on a stroll down Garnet.
A few shops will even stay open late to accommodate visitors until the 9 pm closing time. There will also be musicians set up along Cass & Turquoise that will be showing off their skills for visitors.
The following retailers and eateries, many of whom are offering discounts or samples to visitors, are participating in the weekly event:
Turquoise Coffee (841 Turquoise St.)
The French Gourmet (960 Turquoise St.)
Patina Gift Store (957 Turquoise St)
Gallery at Land’s End (4984 Cass St.)
Cream of the Crop (4683 Cass St.)
Depending on the success of North PB Nights, planners say there will be more of these outdoor events in the future, possibly including a Farmers Market and outdoor food cart.
So if you’re bored on this Thursday evening and looking to beat the heat, check out North PB Nights!
