From contemporary oil paintings to woodwork and photography, visual arts offer something for everyone, and with more than 200 artists of all mediums and styles showcasing their work at ArtWalk @ Liberty Station, you can spend all weekend long browsing the finest of arts in America’s Finest City.
The 12th annual ArtWalk @ Liberty Station will be held Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13 in the Arts District at Liberty Station. The free, weekend long event offers fine art, food, live entertainment and excitement for all ages. Attendees can view and purchase collectable and approachable art from a variety of mediums, such as glass work, jewelry, sculptures, oil painting, photography, metal work, wood work and much more. Over 200 international, national and local San Diego artists are participating and with guests visiting from across the region, ArtWalk @ Liberty Station will bring together artists and art lovers from all walks of life together for a grand celebration of culture and creativity.
“ArtWalk @ Liberty Station will be celebrating its 12th year and we are delighted to host our fine art festival at one of San Diego’s premier arts and culture venues,” said Sandi Cottrell, ArtWalk San Diego’s Director. “Artists of all mediums will be taking over the beautiful rose garden in Ingram Plaza to showcase their artwork to seasoned collectors as well as first-time fine art buyers. We create a festive, beautiful setting surrounding a rose garden, so that attendees can enjoy the setting and the interactive art activities surrounded by natural beauty.”
The Arts District at Liberty Station has blossomed into San Diego’s premier venue for the arts, museums, dining and entertainment. The beautiful outdoor setting, surrounding a picturesque rose garden, is flat, grassy, and easily accessible for artists and attendees. ArtWalk @ Liberty Station will also feature street food vendors and a shaded wine and beer pavilion, with a selection of Stone Brewing beers and wines from PIetri Cellars and Negociant Winery. Street food options include Bamboo Hut, Dang Brother Pizza, Fabrisons: Sweet and Savory Crepes and Hunter Steak House, just to name a few.
This weekend of arts and culture offers something for everyone. Guests have the option to simply peruse the many artists and works available or get in on the fun through the interactive art pieces taking place. Guests can join the Artist & Craftsman Supply to create a vibrant, one of a kind mixed media artwork to take home, or leave their own mark on ArtWalk @ Liberty Station with the, “What Color Are You?” collaborative project. This collaborative visual art project is hosted by Illegal Art, an artist collective aimed at creating participatory-based public art to inspire self-reflection, thought and human connection. In line with the spirit of ArtWalk, the project invites guests to express themselves by painting one color that represents who they are on a 3″ x 3″ square and pinning it to a pre-existing grid, creating a piece for both participants and passersby alike to admire the diversity of personal expression.
ArtWalk @ Liberty Station invites the whole family to participate in KidsWalk, where the interactive art activities and visual art projects offer fun for children of all ages to create artwork of their own. The weekend’s activities benefit ArtReach, a nonprofit that provides free art classes to more than 20,000 students who wouldn’t normally have access to art programs in San Diego County. ArtReach believes that all children deserve the opportunity to practice creative thinking and creative doing, regardless of socioeconomic status, and strives to increase access to visual arts education.
This fine arts festival is part of the ArtWalk San Diego brand known for bringing together all facets of the arts in San Diego while promoting the experience of owning original art. ArtWalk @ Liberty Station is the sister festival to Mission Federal ArtWalk in Little Italy—San Diego’s original outdoor fine art festival.
ArtWalk @ Liberty Station will be held at Liberty Station’s Ingram Plaza, 2751 Dewey Rd. The festival will run from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on August 12 and 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on August 13 and attendance is free.
