In this episode: Get fit for the new year with the Sporting Club
Now that the holidays are behind us we can concentrate on making sure that 2013 is the best year yet! While the weather may have started a little rocky, with rain showers and chilly nights, the sun seems to be relentless and manages to make itself known every day, helping to make San Diego the great city it is. We all have our own routines for the new year but before you get into your plans, you should make sure to catch the latest episode of Entertainer and Lifestyles Television, which is dedicated to helping you get rid of those extra holiday pounds you may have put on in December. If you haven’t caught the episode yet, here’s what you’re missing out on.
A new year usually means a handful of resolutions, ranging anywhere from breaking that nasty smoking habit to getting back in shape, but they can be pretty tough to keep up with once January closes. Well, to help you stick to that goal, the Sporting Club San Diego is here with you every step of the way!
When Entertainer and Lifestyles Television asked the viewers what they wanted to achieve the most this year, it should come as no
surprise that health and fitness was on the top of their list. Whether it’s because you ate too much over the holidays or because you’ve been thinking about getting on an exercise routine for awhile now, getting healthy is a goal that everyone can agree upon. Thankfully, the Sporting Club has our backs this year and are offering their invaluable health advice and fitness tips.
As the only executive gym in the city, the Sporting Club has all the equipment and fitness classes you could ever want. The Sporting Club’s General Manager Anthony Macaluso took some time out of his day to chat with E&L TV host about everything they have to offer this year, including new machines and classes. He even gave tips on how to stick with your fitness goal this year, recommending that you get a personal trainer and participate in group classes. Personal trainers can help you create a personalized program and can motivate you every step of the way and taking classes can help you feel accountable if you miss a class, giving you a feeling of responsibility. After all, you don’t want to fall behind. In terms of classes to choose from, the Club has specialty classes, Barre, Yoga, Abs, and Cycling Pilates. If finding time to exercise is a problem you have, make sure to check out the episode for some of Anthony’s tips for making time to get to the gym!
Anthony suggests that the best way to lose weight is to combine a healthy diet with regular diet and exercise, adding that sports are a great way to exercise because they can be fun. He also let us know that playing sports can reduce stress and is low impact on the joints. Even if you hate exercise, sports can be great because if you’re having fun, it doesn’t feel like work. The Club has tennis courts and heated swimming pools to practice his advice on. A good hour long game of tennis can burn 600 calories and at the Club you can reserve one of their two courts for two hours at a time.
Kris Machain, one of the Sporting Club’s talented personal trainers, also took some time to give some great exercise tips to incorporate into any workout. If you want to know what they are though, you’ll have to tune in!
If you get hungry at the Club, rest assured that they have a great café to keep you full and refreshed. With healthy food options that are fresh and organic, this café is a great place to wind down with some friends after a long workout. Aside from food, the Club also has a spa that recharges your mind and spirit. With many different treatments, the spa has all the latest services. This month’s episode delved into their three newest treatments (the NuFace Trinity, Cupping, and scalp treatments with Moroccan oil) so if you want to learn more, you’ll have to check it out.
Speaking of health and fitness, this month’s episode of E&L TV also let you know about Combine 5, an organization who brings health and fitness to
young kids. The organization is dedicated to helping the youth of San Diego through athletics, academics, and youth mentorship, striving to inspire kids to reach for the stars. To learn more about this amazing group, make sure to watch the episode below!
