Infused Water: Perfect for Summer
Have you ever gone to a spa and noticed the refreshingly healing qualities of the infused water? There’s a reason that spas, places known for their relaxation and rejuvenation, are serving this simple drink. Besides the aesthetically pleasing view of beautifully sliced, colorful fruits floating around in ice cold water, infused waters provide great flavor along with some health benefits (and they’re a nice change of pace from carbonated beverages). Here’s a few to try this summer:
Blueberry + Lemon + Mint
Lemons are pretty much what you think about when you think about water. I mean, they’re only just hanging off of every glass of water that you’re ever served at a restaurant. A spig of mint helps give it some natural sweetness and blueberries add a nice boost of antioxidants to your diet.
1/4 cup blueberries + 6 slices of lemons and a few sprigs of mint. Combine in a pitcher with water and let sit for 5 minutes. Top with ice and serve.
Lime + Strawberry + Cucumber:
Elevate your cucumber water game! The lime adds brightness and the strawberries help boost your metabolism.
6 slices of lime
4 strawberries sliced or quarts
6 slices of cucumbers.
Combine in a pitcher with water and let sit for 5 minutes. Top with ice and serve.
Grapefruit + Rosemary
This one is definitely more of a sophisticated flavor. The grapefruit provides a slightly bitter, slightly sweet flavor while the rosemary adds a piney, almost tea-like taste to the infused water.
6 slices of grapefruit
a few sprigs of rosemary.
Combine in pitcher with water and let sit for 5 minutes. Top with ice and serve.
Raspberry + Mint
Mint always seems to cool you down, so it’s no wonder that it’s used in so many infused drinks. Raspberries add a lot of summer flavor to the water.
2 cups of water or sparkling water
2 cups of ice
1 cup raspberries, whole
handful of mint
Strawberry + Basil
Basil seems like an odd option for a beverage, but when you mix the pungent leaf with strawberries and add ice cold water, there is something cleansing and refreshing that happens. These two flavors blend perfectly and the pair is great for a hot summer day.
2 cups of water or sparkling water
2 cups of ice
1 cup strawberries, sliced
handful basil
These infused waters will definitely cool you down now that the hot weather is here to stay for a while. Grab some fruit, herbs, and mints and experiment! Water has never been so exciting!
