Pappalecco to Open New Location in Del Mar

By  |

Pappalecco is a San Diego based Tuscan café featuring coffee, pastries, great food, and amazing gelato.  Current locations in Little Italy, Hillcrest, Kensington and Cardiff by the Sea are neighborhood favorites.

Pappalecco was founded in Little Italy in April of 2007. Two and a half years later, the Bucci brothers opened a second location in Hillcrest. In 2012 Pappalecco opened the central kitchen in Point Loma. By the conclusion of 2016, Pappalecco will have three more locations on the map – Kensington, Cardiff by the Sea and Del Mar Highlands. The Del Mar location is the newest, scheduled to open in the next week or so.

Chef and co-owner, Lorenzo Bucci, calls their locations “homes,” saying “we are delighted to have our Tuscan homes all over San Diego County, providing neighborhoods with fresh, simple Tuscan-imported ingredients and quality food in a cheerful and welcoming atmosphere. Pappalecco is a neighborhood symbol and I think every neighborhood should have one!”

Just as in all locations, visitors will enjoy fresh breakfast offerings, organic coffee, paninis, pizza, salads, gelato, homemade pastries, wine and beer, and more. All Pappalecco menu items including its bread, pastries and gelato are made locally at its production kitchen in Point Loma. Pappalecco’s food items are all made with five simple ingredients imported from Tuscany to stick to the culinary principles that emphasize freshness, quality and simplicity of the Tuscan lifestyle.

“Since many cannot travel all the way to Italy, my goal is to bring the history and culture of Tuscany to the U.S. through the beauty and simplicity of its food, every day,” said Bucci. “Each location shares the flavors and culture of Tuscany with San Diego.”

Try Pappalecco at one of their five locations:

Hillcrest – 3650 5th Ave.
Kensington – 4202 Adams Ave.
Cardiff by the Sea – 2101 San Elijo Ave.
Del Mar Highlands – 12925 El Camino Real

San Diego resident for over 10 years, I now call this beautiful city home. Originally from the Bay Area, I'm a California girl at heart. I love the outdoors, fitness, food, and a good craft beer (from San Diego of course).
