Panera Bread Rolls Out Delivery Service Across San Diego County
For far too long, eating healthy and conveniently have seemed mutually exclusive. Luckily, eateries like Panera Bread are working to change that. Known for elevating fast-casual dining, Panera has rolled out a new delivery service across San Diego County. Now if you live or work within an eight-minute drive from one of the 16 participating locations, you can get Panera delivered right to your door or even your desk. Customers can place their order online or on the Panera app, making it the most convenient way to experience fresh, healthy and 100% clean meals.
Panera delivery is helping meet the customer demand to have delivery of high-quality food. With a variety of delicious soups, salads, sandwiches and bakery items that are 100 percent free of artificial preservatives, sweeteners, flavors and colors, Panera provides guests with the real food options they are craving. Online and mobile ordering lets guests customize their entrees and ingredients with a simple menu builder, and makes it easy to store order history and credit card information. Cafés will generally deliver between the hours of 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. seven days a week but you are encouraged to check the website or mobile app for details. There is a $5.00 order minimum and a $4.00 – $5.00 delivery service fee.
Thirty years ago, at a time when quick service meant low quality, Panera set out to challenge this expectation. Panera believes that good food you can feel good about, served in a warm and welcoming environment by people who care, can bring out the best in all of us. So they began with a simple commitment: to make fresh food free of artificial additives and antibiotics – because they think simpler is better and believe in serving food as it should be. Panera is focused on improving quality and convenience. With investments in technology and operations, they now offer new ways to enjoy Panera favorites – like mobile ordering, delivery and Rapid PickUp for to-go orders – all designed to make things easier for guests.
With the launch of the delivery service, Panera has hired 120 drivers creating more jobs for San Diegans.
Making a local impact in the community is one of the core values of Panera’s San Diego franchisee Manna Development Group. In 2011, Manna launched its own nonprofit, Share the Dough, designated to support their own team and give back to the community. Through the voluntary contributions from Manna employees, they have created a fund to be used for team members facing various emergencies, educational scholarships, supporting community organizations and more. They also donate unsold bread and bakery items to local nonprofit organizations fighting hunger. Between the 100 cafés located throughout Southern California, Oregon, Washington, Michigan and Indiana, Manna contributes around $16 million yearly – about $43,853 daily.
Additionally, for the past 14 years, including this year, every Panera café in San Diego adopts a local family in need to host them for a meal and provide them with gifts or other items they are in need of. The general managers of each café take the initiative and reach out to local organizations like The Rock Church and Daybreak Church to see if there are any families in need that the café can bring holiday cheer to.
